For Christmas, my hubby got me a dehydrator and I have been experimenting with it lately. My first treat I tried was Japanese sweet potato chips in both sea salt and BBQ flavors. They had good flavor but lacked the crunch of a typical chip. Next time I try chips, I may toss the into the oven for a few minutes after dehydrating to try and crisp them up. Still delicious and WAY healthier than store bought chips. My second treat I made was this sweet, yummy snack! Sweet banana chips. I didn’t mind that these have that chewiness to them, at first bite they are hard then they sort of just melt in your mouth. Perfect! Another healthy snack in the books.

1⃣Slice 1 ripe but still firm bananas into even slices, 1/8″-1/4″ thickness (I used a mandolin) and place in a small bowl
2⃣In a small sauce pan melt together (May need to double depending in size and amount of bananas):
🔹1T coconut oil
🔹1-2t honey (or maple syrup)
🔹1t cinnamon (can add nutmeg too)
🔹optional-1t coconut sugar
**Dip a banana in the sauce to taste and adjust spice/sweetness as desired**
3⃣Pour sauce over sliced bananas and gently stir until all are coated
4⃣Dehydrate 130F for 12hrs (longer/shorter depending on thickness of bananas)


Homemade Strawberry Shortcake using my “Sweet Protein Biscuits” (from my previous post) and Protein Banana Ice Cream. This is the hubs favorite dessert so I made a healthy and protein packed version. The warm sweet almond protein biscuit contrasted perfectly with the frozen banana ice cream…and of course the sweet mashed strawberries tied it all together!

Sweet Almond Biscuit

Mashed Strawberries
1⃣Wash and cut the stems off of a container of strawberries
2⃣Place in a bowl and mash with a potato mashed
3⃣Can leave as is or add in stevia for additional sweetness

Banana Protein Ice Cream
1⃣In a blender mix
🔹2 frozen bananas (skins removed prior to freezing)
🔹1/4c greek yogurt
🔹1sc vanilla protein powder
🔹1t vanilla extract
🔹almond milk as needed
*I used a vitamix with the tamper to keep everything pressed down. You could also use a Yo-Nanas machine or food processor

This dessert is what I used my “cinna-sweet protein mixed nuts” for! Sweet, warm peaches and blueberries topped with homemade coconut protein frozen yogurt and finished off with protein candied nuts makes this hot-cold combo a killer dessert! So easy to make too…and lick the bowl clean, good!

Coconut Pro-Fro-Yo
1⃣Mix in freezer-safe bowl
🔹1c greek yogurt
🔹1/2c dedicated coconut
🔹2T coconut water
🔹1sc vanilla protein powder
🔹1t vanilla extract
🔹Optional-sweetener of choice (I didn’t use anything, but taste as you are making it to see if you want it sweeter)
2⃣Freeze for a couple hours before you want to eat it

Peachy-Blue Mix
1⃣In a sauce pan, cook until tender and heated through, stirring:
🔹3 peaches, cubed into 1″ pieces
🔹1c blueberries
🔹1/8c honey
🔹Zest of 1 lemon
🔹Juice of 1/2 lemon
2⃣Place fruit mix in a bowl then add a scoop of pro-fro-yo and top with cinna-sweet mixed nuts! Enjoy

Sweet peaches pan seared in coconut oil, sprinkled with cinnamon and drizzled with molasses! A delicious, quick and easy dessert that was totally satisfying and perfect for right after dinner. Homemade vanilla fro-yo on top would make this even better…next time!
